OUR STORY
Since its founding in Spain in 1971 by Mr Mauricio Hatchwell Toledano, Excem Grupo has evolved with great success, passing from being a Spanish trading company to becoming a diversified international group whose areas of activity include telecommunications, real estate and consulting services to large groups.
Our value creation is based on our extensive knowledge of international business, our flexibility and the establishment of timely alliances in local markets.
Our commitment to large emerging markets like China, has positioned the group to participate in the strong growth we believe these regions will experience in the coming years. Our diversification into added-value services in telecommunications and HLS represents yet another support for our existing businesses.

For more than 40 years, the Cement Division of Excem has built a solid international network of alliances. Excem is and has been for several decades one of the largest independent cement traders in Southern Europe.
Excem is also founder, promoter and investor of a cement grinding mill in Spain. The Cement Division of Excem closely collaborates with its customers, in order to obtain and offer the most competitive prices with the best products and qualities from a range of suppliers.

Excem holds the ISO 9001: 2000 certificate, which demonstrates the commitment to Quality Management and Quality Improvement that encompasses our marketing, installation and post-sales services processes. This commitment to our customers guarantees the quality of the process and of the works, as well as the consulting services provided to our customers and the selection process of our suppliers. Excem has Security Certifications as well as staff with the appropriate authorization levels to participate in reserved projects.
We are aware of the importance of sustainable developments, and therefore submit our processes to rigorous quality controls in environmental matters. As a result, Excem is certified in ISO 14001: 2004, showing our commitment to the correct Environmental Protection and Management.

Our post-sales services cover all the warranty and maintenance of the systems and equipment, and that is one of the main points upon which we base the quality commitment made to our customers.
Excem offers support and maintenance services from our Service Center in Spain, with specialized technicians in Madrid and Barcelona.

David Hatchwell holds an MBA in International Business and Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and is a graduate of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington DC. He worked in corporate finance at Goldman Sachs and the Republic National Bank of New York, now HSBC. Mr. Hatchwell led Excem Grupo’s operations in China for 15 years, and later became CEO of Excem Technologies and CEO of the Consulting and Investment Division. Mr. Hatchwell is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Excem Grupo.

Philip Hatchwell holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Buckingham (England). He worked in the Republic National Bank’s Asset Management division, NY, and later in Goldman Sachs’ Trading division, NY. Currently and after working in the company since 1994, Mr. Hatchwell is CEO of Excem Grupo and member of the Board of Directors of Excem Grupo. Mr. Hatchwell is also CEO of Cementos Occidentales, S.A.

Kareen Hatchwell holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of New York. Since 1997, she has managed Spanish companies within the Excem Grupo in sectors such as textiles, jewelry and food, with a presence in the Chinese market both for the production and marketing of their products. As Director of Institutional Relations, she is in charge of the monitoring of the advising and consulting projects of Excem China. She is currently Advisor and Director of Operations in China for Excem Grupo. Kareen Hatchwell is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Antonio de Nebrija University (Madrid) and Excem Grupo’s representative in the Spain-China Council Foundation.

OUR FOUNDER
He was born in Casablanca (Morocco), in 1940, and married to Monique Altaras, with whom he had three children.
In the Spanish business world and until his death, he stood out as President and founder of Excem Grupo. The cement division built a strong international alliance network for 35 years, and is currently one of the largest independent traders in Southern Europe.
Among his business and cultural initiatives in Spain, the presidency of the Sephardic Federation and his patronage work with various universities and foundations, an activity that he also carried out abroad, are most noteworthy.
Mr. Mauricio Hatchwell Toledano was also a very active member of cultural, academic, business and social circles in France, Israel, China and the United States, holding various positions in governing bodies of important academic institutions in those countries.
Among other special recognitions, in 1995, Mr. Hatchwell received the Jerusalem 3000 award (granted by the Israeli Prime Minister Isaac Rabin, assassinated shortly afterwards); in 1999, he was granted the commissioning by number of the Order of Civil Merit by the Government of Spain and, in 1990, he received the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord.
He passed away on September 28, 2011, in the city of Madrid.
